“There were just 9 to 10 unicorns before 2015, but India is currently flying high in the unicorn world.” According to a recent report, “a huge change has arrived this year; a Unicorn was built in India every 10 days in just 10 months,” Prime Minister Modi said.

In the midst of the pandemic, he added, it was a significant achievement for our youth. “Today, India has more than 70 start-ups with a market capitalization of more than $1 billion. Everyone has observed our start-ups’ success and the support they’ve received from investors across the country and overseas… “It seemed unimaginable just a few years ago,” the Prime Minister stated.

Earlier this year, the Indian government launched Startup India, a flagship programme aimed at facilitating funding, investment, tax breaks, and industry-academia incubation for companies in industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, and education.

He urged the youth to become job creators, saying that in a country with a large young population, three characteristics, namely ideas and creativity, a willingness to take chances, and a can-do attitude, are the three elements that led to success stories.

He said, “Another change that is now visible is that earlier if a youth launched any start-up, people used to say ‘Why don’t you do a job? Why a start-up? But now people say – ‘Job is alright, but why don’t you create your own start-up’? And the first reaction to seeing young people who are already in start-ups is: ‘Wow, it is your start-up, this change is a major strength of BIMSTEC countries, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Thailand.

He laid emphasis on digital media and said, “This century is a century of the digital revolution and new-age innovations. And this century is also called the Century of Asia. And therefore, it is the need of the time that future technology emerges from Asia’s labs and future entrepreneurs are made from here.

The USP of our start-up world is its disruption and diversification capacity. It is disruptive because these start-ups are giving rise to new approaches, new technology, and new modalities today. Start-ups provide solutions by breaking barriers in any field, India is breaking old barriers in every sector today.  India is trying to create a start-up ecosystem, the basis of which will be Of the Youth, By the Youth, For the Youth,  were some of the highlights said by Narendra Modi at Prarambh: Startup India’s International Summit’.

Recently, they have launched one Chailo outlet in University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya. This is their first launch in the North-eastern region of the country. This start-up primarily aims to serve the college students and working professionals by providing them the best taste of tea at very nominal rates.

On conversation, Mr. Rahman, Co-founder (Chailo) said: “When I was in college, I always missed my cup of tea prepared at home when it comes to taste. Same was the reaction of many students when we did a survey. Chai is also considered as one of the most consumed drink in the country. As I am from Assam, I know the real taste of tea, so I along with my classmate Gaurav decided to start Chailo-Jaagte Raho to serve the college students and working professionals first, who lacks to get the real taste of tea.

Lastly, when inquired about the role of Mr. Gaurav at Chailo, Mr. Rahman said that he looks after the expansion of the brand and its marketing strategies across various parts of the country and decides about the new launches of the brand.
