Instagram’s Trial Reels feature empowers creators to experiment with new content styles, genres, or topics. This feature allows users to test the waters with non-followers before deciding whether to share with the actual audience. By trying fresh ideas, formats, or subjects without worrying about how followers will react, users can refine content strategy and make informed decisions to boost engagement.

Steps to Create a Trial Reel

  • Create a Reel
  • Toggle on the Trial Switch
  • Share your trial Reel
  • Receive Performance Insights

Visibility of Trial Reels

Trial reel will only be visible to non-followers, giving users the opportunity to test new content and refine the strategy. After 24 hours users will receive valuable feedback in the form of views, likes, comments, and shares, helping you decide whether to share your trial reel with their followers .While trial reels aren’t visible on creators profiles, followers might still see them if: Shared directly with them and Appear on pages with the same audio, filter, or location .

Auto-Sharing Trial Reels

If a trial reel performs well within 72 hours, Instagram will automatically share it with followers. However, creators have full control and can change this setting anytime.

Instagram’s Trial Reels feature is now rolling out and will be available globally to all eligible creators in the coming weeks. To be eligible, you’ll need a professional account.

This feature allows creators to test new content with non-followers before sharing it with their actual audience. Trial Reels provide key engagement metrics, such as views , shares , likes , and comments  which become visible after 24 hours.

Creators can choose to share their trial reel with followers manually or set it to automatically share based on its performance within the first 72 hours .
