										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Union  Education Minister RP ‘Nishank’, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Minister of State for Health, along with Education ministers of state in a virtual meeting on 23 May 2021 announced that class 12th board exam will be held and the dates will be announced on June 1. There will be changes in exam patterns and JEE/NEET exam papers will also be conducted.</p>



<p>During the meeting, two options were given to the states by the Center. According to the first option, the students of class 12 will have to appear in the examination of some selected subjects and on the basis of performance in these subjects marks will be issued for other remaining subjects. At the same time, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia informed about the second option suggested by the Central Government to the states, that the examinations for the students of class 12 can be conducted, but the exam pattern will have to be changed. It will have a single paper of 1.5 hours instead of the traditional 3 hours of different types of questions and it will consist of only multiple-choice questions. However, the Education Minister of Delhi said, &#8220;We opposed both options.&#8221;</p>

<p>Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that he is confident to able to arrive at an informed, collaborative decision regarding the Class 12th board exams and remove the uncertainty among student&#8217;s and parent&#8217;s minds by informing them the final decision at the earliest.</p>

<p>Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal &#8216;Nishank&#8217; attended a meeting chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and with other Union Ministers today i.e. on May 23, 2021. In this meeting, the conduction of JEE Main and NEET (UG) 2021 and other entrance exams, including the 12th board examinations of the Central Board &#8211; CBSE and ISCE were discussed. The meeting was attended by both Union Ministers as well as Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, and Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre and Education Ministers, Education Secretaries, and State Examination Boards of all states and union territories across the country. Presidents and stakeholders also participated. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The <a href="http://news.jugaadin.com/a-high-level-meeting-with-states-uts-to-discuss-conduct-of-class-xiith-exams-and-professional-courses-to-held-tomorrow-education-minister/">Union Minister of Education</a> gave information in a tweet yesterday, 22 May 2021 that all the Education Ministers and Secretaries of the State Government have been requested to attend this meeting and share their views regarding the upcoming examinations. This virtual meeting was to be held on May 23, 2021, from 11.30 am.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">After the second wave of COVID-19, competitive examinations including board exams were postponed. <p class="has-medium-font-size">The BITSAT 2021 admission examination was scheduled from June 24 to June 29, 2021, has been postponed due to the havoc of the second wave of the corona. BITSAT-2021 tests are likely to be conducted during July-August 2021. The exact schedule will be announced through the website sometime during June 2021.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bitsadmission.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>official notice</strong></a>&nbsp;reads, “The deadline for submission of Online applications for BITSAT-2021 is extended to 5:00 PM on June 30, 2021. BITSAT-2021 online tests (earlier scheduled during June 24-29, 2021) stand postponed. BITSAT-2021 tests are likely to be conducted during July-August 2021. The exact schedule will be announced through the website sometime during June 2021. Please check this website in the first week of June 2021 for any updates.”</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Bhavish Aggarwal, the chairman, and CEO of Ola Group announced on Twitter that the service will begin this week in Bengaluru with 500 oxygen concentrators and will be expanded across the country with up to 10,000 oxygen concentrators.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The concentrators can be demanded via the Ola app, according to Aggarwal. The company will deliver it to the patient&#8217;s doorstep after it has been validated and will pick it up once he or she no longer requires it. As <a href="http://news.jugaadin.com/ola-partners-with-phonepe-to-increase-digital-payment-solutions/">Ola</a> says, the concentrators and transportation will be free. &#8220;</p>

The oxygen shortage for the vital Covid-19 patients has added salt to the wound as a result of the massive increase in infection rate. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="has-medium-font-size">In the devastating second wave of Corona, with the military&#8217;s efforts for Covid relief,  three Indian warships arrived in Indian ports on Monday with vital equipment from foreign countries to reinforce the country&#8217;s battle against disease (Covid-19).</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">From Qatar, Kuwait, and Singapore, the warships carried empty cryogenic oxygen tanks, oxygen-filled bottles, oxygen concentrators, rapid antigen test kits, and personal protective equipment. Under Operation Samudra Setu-II, the navy has allocated some of its warships (nine at last count) to ferry vital supplies from countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">The <a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=1717452">INS Airavat</a> transported eight empty cryogenic oxygen tanks and 3,898 oxygen cylinders from Singapore to Visakhapatnam, while the INS Kolkata and INS Trikand transported supplies from Qatar and Kuwait to New Mangalore and Mumbai.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">The INS Airavat ship departed Singapore on 05 May with Oxygen tanks and cylinders were sourced through various agencies in coordination with the High Commission of India whereas <a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=1717443">Indian Naval Ship</a>&nbsp;Trikand was deployed to augment shipment of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) cryogenic containers from Hamad Port, Qatar to Mumbai. <p class="has-medium-font-size">“Alleviating any constraint from the financing side for all stakeholders – government, hospitals and dispensaries, pharmacies, vaccine/medicine manufacturers/importers, medical oxygen manufacturers/suppliers, private operators engaged in the critical healthcare supply chain, and above all the common man who may be facing a sudden spike in health expenditure – requires a comprehensive targeted policy response. Small businesses and financial entities at the grassroot level are bearing the biggest brunt of the second wave of infections&#8221; said Mr. Das.</p>



<p class="has-large-font-size"><strong>The various measures taken by RBI as a strategy against the pandemic are:</strong></p>



<ol type="1" class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>Term Liquidity Facility of ₹50,000 crore to Ease Access to Emergency Health Services</strong></li></ol>



<p>Term Liquidity Facility of Rs. 50,000 crore with tenure of up to 3 years, at repo rate, to ease access to emergency health services, for ramping up COVID-related health infrastructure &amp; services. This lending facility will be available up to March 31, 2022. Banks will be provided incentives to provide credit under this facility.</p>



<ol type="1" start="2" class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>Special Long Term Repo Operations for Small Finance Banks</strong></li></ol>



<p>In order to provide further support to micro, small and other unorganized sector entities, 3-year repo operations of Rs. 10,000 crore at repo rate, for fresh lending up to Rs 10 lakh per borrower; facility is available up to 31 October, 2021.</p>



<ol type="1" start="3" class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>Lending by Small Finance Banks (SFBs) to MFIs for on-lending to be classified as priority sector lending</strong></li></ol>



<p>In view of fresh challenges, SFBs are now permitted to regard fresh on-lending to MFIs with asset size up to Rs. 500 crore, as priority sector lending. This facility will be available up to 31 March, 2022.</p>



<ol type="1" start="4" class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>Credit flow to MSME Entrepreneurs</strong></li></ol>



<p>To further incentivize inclusion of unbanked MSMEs into banking system, exemption provided in February, 2021 wherein scheduled banks were allowed to deduct credit given to new MSME borrowers from Net Time &amp; Demand Liabilities for calculation of CRR, is now extended to December 31, 2021.</p>



<ol type="1" start="5" class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>Stress Resolution Framework 2.0 for Individuals, Small Businesses and MSMEs</strong></li></ol>



<p>Following set of measures have been announced to relieve stress faced by most vulnerable categories of borrowers – namely individuals, borrowers and MSMEs.</p>



<p><strong>a)</strong>&nbsp;Individuals, borrowers and MSMEs with aggregate exposure up to Rs. 25 crore, who have not availed restructuring under any previous frameworks, who were classified as standard on 31 March, 2021, will be eligible to be considered under Resolution Framework 2.0. Restructuring under new framework can be invoked till September 30, 2021 and will have to be implemented within 90 days after invocation.</p>



<p><strong>b)</strong>&nbsp;For individuals and small businesses who have availed restructuring of loans under Resolution Framework 1.0, where moratorium of less than 2 years was permitted, lending institutions can now increase the period and/or extend residual tenure up to a total period of 2 years.</p>



<p><strong>c)</strong>&nbsp;In respect of small businesses and MSMEs restructured earlier, lending institutions are now permitted to review working capital sanction limits, as a one-time measure.</p>



<ol type="1" start="6" class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>Rationalization of KYC norms for enhanced customer experience</strong></li></ol>



<p>Steps being proposed include: a) Extending scope to video KYC for new customer categories such as proprietorship firms, b) Conversion of limited KYC accounts to fully KYC compliant accounts, c) Introduction of more customer-friendly options in KYC updating and d) enabling the use of KYC Identifier of Centralised KYC Registry (CKYCR) for V-CIP and submission of electronic documents as identify proof</p>



<ol type="1" start="7" class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>Floating Provisions and Countercyclical Provisioning Buffer</strong></li></ol>



<p>Banks can now use 100% of floating provisions held by them, as on December 31, 2020, for making specific provisions for NPAs; such utilization is permitted up to March 31, 2022.</p>



<ol type="1" start="8" class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-list"><li><strong>Relaxation of overdraft facility for states</strong></li></ol>



<p>Maximum number of days of overdraft in a quarter for state governments has been increased from 36 to 50 days. The number of consecutive days of OD has been increased from 14 to 21 days; facility available up to September 30, 2021.</p>
