Badhaai Do trailer shows Bhumi playing Suman Singh, a 31-year-old physical education teacher, who is interested in women. Rajkummar is playing a cop named Shardul Thakur.  To escape the marriage pressure of their families, they both engaged in marriage.

Suman and Shardul decided to live like ‘roommates’ but confusion occurs when her girlfriend (Chum Darang) comes to stay with them. Things become much more problematic when their family members put pressure on them to have a child. Rajkummar’s secret get also revealed in the trailer’s final scene that he too, is homosexual. The topic of lavender marriage is explored in Badhaai Do (a marriage between a man and a woman for the purpose of hiding homosexuality).
