Paytm stated in a statement that during the company’s 22nd annual general meeting, shareholders voted 99.67% in favor of Vijay Shekhar Sharma’s reappointment as managing director and CEO. His reappointment as the MD & CEO was also approved by OCL’s Board of Directors in May 2022.

“We are thankful to our shareholders for their unwavering support and faith in our leadership. We remain committed to building a large, profitable company and creating long-term shareholder value while driving financial inclusion in the country,” quoted as saying in the company statement.

Sharma addressed the shareholders at the annual general meeting that although the parent company One97 has no control over the stock’s trading price but the management is working to turn the company profitable.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma informed shareholders that “Share price movement is not influenced by us. There are several factors. A company’s profitability plays a very important factor in it. Company’s growth plays an important role in it but these two are not the only factor for share price,”

In a tweet on the official account of Paytm, the company wrote, “BREAKING: Now track & get real-time alerts about COVID vaccination slots in your city on the Paytm App!

The new tool will help users to find COVID Vaccine slots and set for alerts when new slots open up for their locality. The data is sourced on a real-time basis from the CoWin API and the tool will help only to find the vaccination centre, users cannot use the tool to book an appointment for vaccination from the app. Users can book appointments through government platforms such as Aarogya Setu, Umang, and CoWin.

How to use Paytm to find Vaccine Slot

 Open the Paytm app on your phone and Go to the Mini App Store section.

Tap on the Vaccine Finder icon.

 Enter your city PIN code or “Search by District”  to check for availability in your area.

If slots are not available for present in your area, then click “Notify me when slots are available” in your area.

During the lockdown, over 5000 companies have used Paytm payouts to pay salaries & food allowances to employees, incentives & rewards to housekeeping, laborers & other contractual staff; and even for expenses like utility bills of their offices.

The Paytm payout service launched earlier this year gain momentum during the lockdown as the adoption of digital technology for money transfers increased. This service also helps the companies to manage their entire business with Current Accounts, Collections, Payouts, and business expenses. Also, it offers the highest transaction success rate in the industry.

Along with the telecom major Vodafone Idea, Paytm also partnered with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to extend this service throughout the country. This step would be a great help for millions of citizens who use feature phones and for recharging have to go to physical stores. Now they can recharge their phones by themselves.

The company further stated that this service is based on the NPCI’s innovative payment service *99# which works on the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) channel. It allows mobile banking transactions using basic feature phones without the need of having a mobile internet data facility for using USSD based banking.

How to recharge your Vodafone Idea number in a few simple steps!

A) If your UPI ID is already registered with BHIM UPI
– You simply need to dial USSD code — *99*1*3# (Your bank account number linked to mobile number through which USSD is dialed is detected)
– Next, enter your Paytm’s UPI ID, desired recharge amount, and finally, the UPI Pin to complete the transaction. Your recharge will be done within a few minutes!

B) In case, your UPI ID is not registered
– Dial *99#
– You will be shown all bank accounts linked with the mobile number from where the USSD is dialed in
– Select the bank account where you want to register your UPI ID and set up your UPI PIN
– To recharge your mobile, you need to again dial *99# and follow the procedure mentioned above in section A.

Paytm by this initiative wants millions of migrants who are away from home and have limited means, to stay connected with their families.
