Students take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of discrimination and harassment of LGBTQ students in schools. Day of silence is a student-led movement that protests harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students.

The Day of Silence held in April from 1996 every year. Since 2011, the Day of Silence was celebrated on the second Friday in April, except in 2018, when it had been recognized on Friday, April 27. This year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Day of Silence on Friday, April 24, 2020, and due to lockdown conditions arises because of coronavirus, the event is going to be held virtual.

The protestors every year, in April spend the school day without speaking, and remain silent on harassment and bullying, at the end break the silence with rallies and events to share their views and experiences during the protest.
