None of the Rajasthan Royals batsmen could hold on to the crease for long and only Rahul Tewatia (38) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (34) were able to score respectable. For Delhi, Kagiso Rabada once again performed well and took three wickets. In the match, Ashwin took crucial wickets of Jos Buttler and Mahipal Lamarore and took two wickets for 22 runs in his four overs.

After winning the ‘Man of the Match’ award against Rajasthan Royals on Friday in IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that Jos Buttler’s wicket was very important. The Rajasthan Royals failed to chase down 185 and were all out for 138 runs. Delhi won by 46 runs.

With this win, Hyderabad has advanced to the third position in the points table. Jonny Bairstow scored 97 runs. He was also nominated for the Man of the Match award. Pooran reached the fastest fifty of the season

Punjab’s Nicholas Pooran hit the fastest fifty of the season in just 17 balls. Pooran scored 77 off 37 balls. He hit 5 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. He was knocked out by Rashid Khan. Earlier, Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson hit a fifty off 19 balls against Chennai. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ Kieron Pollard hit a half-century off 20 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Punjab lost 2 wickets in Power Play as the team did not start properly. Mayank Aggarwal, who watched in rhythm, was run out for after scoring 9 in the second over of the innings. After this, PrabhSimran Singh came out to bat and Khaleel Ahmed was dismissed for 11 not out. Lokesh Rahul and Nicholas Pooran scored 45 runs in 6 overs. Lokesh Rahul got caught on the Abhishek Sharma bowl in the arms of Kane Williamson. Rahul managed to score only 11 runs

Warner-Bairstow shared 160-run opening partnership for Hyderabad

David Warner and Johnny Bairstow shared 160 for the first wicket. Bairstow scored 97 off 55 balls. During this time he hit 7 fours and 6 sixes. Meanwhile, David Warner scored 52 off 40 balls. Ravi Bishnoi was dismissed by both the batsmen in the same over. Captain David Warner and Johnny Bairstow gave Hyderabad a great start. Both added 58 runs in the power play. The match was hold by Chennai till the 13th over and Watson’s dismissal marked a turning point in the match. Losing 59 runs in the IPL can be called a huge defeat. Virat blamed poor fielding and loss of catch. Marcus Stoinis, who scored 53 for 26 for Delhi and when he is on 30, Yuzvendrachahal dropped his catch and Delhi scored 196 runs.

After the match, Kohli said- We had many opportunities in the match. These may change the position of the competition.  Some were so easy and were directly at hand. But, we dropped these catches as well. Obviously, it’s hard to win after this but we started well.

Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan got off to a great start and 68 runs was their opening partnership. However, the RCB bowlers then tightened the screws. But, bad catches spoiled the game. Punjab 5 batsmen could not touch even ten figures. Krishnappa Gautham scored 22 not out. At the same time, Glenn Maxwell can score 11 runs. For this, he played 18 balls. Mumbai has scored 89 runs in the last 5 overs. In the last match too, Mumbai Indians scored 89 runs in the last 5 overs to take the match to the Super Over. Earlier in IPL 2016, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) scored 112 runs in the last 4 overs against Gujarat Lions. Also in 2019, Bangalore added 91 runs in the last 4 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Narine and Karthik could not open an account

KKR started chasing the target very badly. Opening batsman Sunil Narine got out without opening the account on the ball of Khaleel Ahmed. Nitish Rana handled the innings for a while and scored 26 runs. He hit 6 fours during his innings. Captain Dinesh Karthik was also unable to open the account and got LBW on the Rashid Khan bowl.

Hyderabad scored the smallest target of this season

After winning the toss, Hyderabad scored 142 for 4. This is the short target of the season. Earlier in the second match of the tournament, Delhi capital gave a target of 157 runs to the Punjab. The match was won by Delhi in Super Over.

Manish Pandey scored (51) from Hyderabad. Apart from this, captain David Warner scored 36 runs and Saha scored 30 runs. Only 5 runs were scored by Johnny Bairstow. Nabi (11) and Abhishek (2) were not out. The KKR bowlers bowled brilliantly. Pat Cummins, Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell took 1–1 wicket.

Nagarkoti could not take a wicket in his first match

Rajasthan fast bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti caused a stir at the 2018 Under-19 World Cup. He threw the ball at 145km/ h. He became a fan of the great West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop. After this, KKR bought him for IPL for Rs 3.2 crore in 2018, but he did not play due to injury. However, KKR retained him. In the 2019 season, he was ruled out due to a back injury. This time he made his debut. However, he could not get a wicket in this match.

Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma was the man of the match with 80 runs. Rohit hit his 37th fifty in the IPL and became the second Indian to hit 200 sixes. Apart from them, Suryakumar Yadav scored 47, Saurabh Tiwary 21, and Hardik Pandya 18 runs. There was an 89-run partnership between Rohit and Surya Kumar for the second wicket. KKR lost the opening game for the first time in the last 8 seasons

For the first time since 2012, the Kolkata team has lost the opening match in IPL. 8 years ago, it defeated by the Delhi Daredevils with 8 wickets. Earlier, against Mumbai, KKR played their opening match twice (2014, 2015) and won both.

This is the highest IPL score in the United Arab Emirates. Earlier on 18 April, 2014 Kings XI Punjab scored 206 runs against Chennai.

Royals captain Steve Smith scored 69 runs. Smith finished 9th in the league and Sanju Samson finished 11th. Samson also became the 8th player to score a fifty off 19 balls. The last over of the first inning was a turning point, with Archer scoring 27 runs and Finally, Jofra Archer, who came in to bat at 9th position, scored 27 off 8 balls. He scored 30 in the last over of the innings. In it, Archer hit 4 sixes. That was also the turning point of the match. If the last over had not been so expensive, the outcome of the match might have been something else. For Chennai, Sam Curran took 3 wickets, and Deepak Chahar, L Ngidi, and Piyush Chawla took 1-1.

The 2^nd game of IPL poised to another thriller with Delhi Capitals edging out Kings XI Punjab in the super over. The match was evenly poised as both teams had control of the match at some points but the match went right down to the wire with Delhi prevailing

Winning the toss KXIP chose to field. The pitch had a tinge of green and had significant bounce with the opening pair of Mohammed Shami and Sheldon Cottrell as Delhi lost their first 3 wickets inside the powerplay. Captain Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant started the rebuilding process but with the score of 100 after 17th over it looked done and dusted. But Marcus Stoinis punished the bowlers scoring 44 runs off the last two to take to a respectable score of 157/8

In reply, KXIP had a good start but lost 4 wickets for just 5 runs and were 55/5 at one stage. The match looked in Delhi’s pocket but Mayank Agrawal played a sublime knock of 89 to take the team on the grasp of victory but the last 3 balls produced. W W as both the teams had an identical score of 157/8 which led to the super over

Super over was just a mere formality as Kagiso Rabada destroyed Punjab restricting them to just 2 runs as Delhi won the Super over comfortably and the game.

KL Rahul the KXIP captain was a bit disappointed with the way the match panned out but he praised Mayank Agarwal for his efforts.

Shreyas Iyer, the Delhi Captain had a few nervous moments as he misjudged a catch which almost cost his team the match but was of full praise of Kagiso Rabada and Marcus Stoinis for their performance

The main aspect of the main was an umpiring blunder which cost the game for Punjab when the umpire gave a legit run as a short run.

Marcus Stoinis was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
