It is not entirely clear why less sleep is harmful to heart health, but researchers recognize that too little sleep causes disturbances to underlying health conditions and biological processes such as glucose metabolism, blood pressure, and inflammation.</p>



<p class="has-large-font-size">How sleep disturbance and Heart health is related</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Common sleep disorders like <strong>Insomnia and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)</strong> affects the quality and duration of sleep and in turn affect the cardiometabolic health. <strong>Obstructive sleep apnea is a serious disorder in which breathing starts and stops multiple times during sleep because the tongue or throat tissues block the airway and generally called snoring. </strong>Insomnia is another sleep disorder in which it is difficult to sleep. <p class="has-medium-font-size">A Heart attack occurs due to reduced and blocked supply of blood to a coronary Artery which in turn blocked the blood supply to the Heart. The reduced and blocked supply occurs due to the presence of Plaque (fat and cholesterol deposits) that blocked the path of blood. Plaque formation is not a one-day activity, it gets formed over several years which can result in blood clots and death of heart muscle too. Heart muscles die due to insufficient supply of oxygen to it. When there is damage or death to the heart muscle due to a lack of oxygen, a heart attack can occur. Every 30 seconds, a person dies from a Heart attack. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">A stroke is a medical condition that is related to Brain damage. It occurs when a blood vessel carrying essential nutrients to the brain gets damaged or blocked due to a blood clot. The low supply of blood to the brain stops the brain from working and hence stroke occurs. </p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Thus, we can see clearly that the similarity between heart
attack and stroke is they both occur due to low oxygen and nutrient supply but
to two different organs.&nbsp; </p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Differences in symptoms:</strong></p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Heart attack symptoms include <strong>Chest pain, upper body discomfort, pain that radiates down the left arm, shortness of breath, a cold sweat, tiredness, nausea, light-headedness or dizziness. In men and women, heart attack symptoms</strong> differ. </p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Strokes symptoms include <strong>sudden numbness in the face, arm, or leg, usually on one side of the body, confusion or difficulty speaking or understanding speech, difficulty in walking, dizziness, or loss of balance or coordination, sudden severe headache, vomiting, dizziness, etc. </strong></p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">People who experience a heart attack or stroke need rapid
treatment to prevent further damage and complications. If you experience any of
these signs or are afraid you might have a heart attack or stroke, visit your

World heart federation (WHF) and World Health Organization (WHO) started the celebration of World Heart Day in the year 1999. </strong>The first World Heart Day was celebrated in the year 2000. </p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Stay healthy and having a healthy heart is very important as <strong>cardiovascular disease is the world’s number one killer today</strong>. Just by doing little changes in the lifestyle like <strong>walking, exercising, eating healthy and avoiding alcohol, smoking can keep our heart healthy.</strong></p>

It increases the risk of diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. In a recent study it is observed that when BMI (<strong>Body Mass Index)</strong> fat mass of a person increases, the risk of heart issues also increases. </p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">Here are some ways in which obesity contributes to heart disease – and what you can do to take control of your health and combat not only obesity but heart disease too!</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size">It can cause <strong>a rise in your blood pressure level.</strong> The individuals who are obese require more blood to supply oxygen and nutrients to their bodies which causes an increase in blood pressure. Increase in blood pressure is a common cause of heart attack.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">It can also lead to <strong><em>Diabetes</em></strong><em>.</em> According to the American Heart Association, at least 68 percent of people aged 65 or older with diabetes also have heart disease. Thus Diabetes is also one of the major factors of Heart-related problems. </p>

spinach, and wheat germ should be taken to keep heart healthy.</p>

<p>• Decrease salt and sugar intake, and keep a check on blood
sugar and blood pressure value.</p>
