Global Parent Day History

In 2012, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 1 June as global parents day with resolution A/RES/66/292. Global Parent’s day is celebrated in different countries on different dates. Like in South Korea (8 May), the USA in July (4rth Sunday), etc. This day recognizes the important role of responsible parenting in the upbringing of a child.

Importance of Parenting During Covid-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues its exponential growth, Families having working parents bear the brunt of it, as parents, they have a responsibility to protect their children from the pandemic, and, continue their work responsibilities. Without support from parents, children’s health, education, and emotional well-being is at risk. To promote children’s safety and wellbeing and provide systematic support to employees, Companies, and organizations should introduce good workplace policies and practices.

Also, novel coronavirus brings anxiety, stress, and uncertainty in children as their schools are closed, have separated from friends, and can’t go outside to play. At this time, children need to feel loved and supported now more than ever and that’s where the role of parenting comes.

Nowadays due to busy schedules, children were not able to spend the time with parents. But, this year lockdown has allowed children to celebrate parents’ day wholeheartedly and given a chance to show love and gratitude towards the parents.
