In the event Rashtriya Khel Mahotsav held at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, Delhi, the organizing committee felicitated Udit Kunj Foundation NGO’s President Kulbir Singh and Gayatri Rural Development Society’s head Bhoop Singh Sehrawat for their contribution to drug addiction. The two organizations are working together for making drug-free Haryana.

Under their Aagaaz Anti Drug Yatra, Udit Kunj foundation and Gayatri rural Development society have covered many villages and cities of Haryana. With their motivation, hundreds of young people have taken an oath not to take drugs and to utilize their time in sports activities.

Every year, Rashtriya Khel Mahotsav is being organized to motivate people for the pro-sports league on all India levels and also social organizations and NGOs that are working on anti-drug activity are honoured. This year it was the 19th edition of the Rashtriya Khel Mahotsav.

Kulbir Singh, President of  Udit Kunj Foundation said that the aim behind organising free medical camps is to bring awareness and provide completely free medical consultations amongst the rural and poor people of the state who have no access to basic healthcare services and knowledge about the diseases they are suffering from.

Also, we organized this free medical camp on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse to aware people of the harmful results of being addicted to drugs. We are running an Aagaaz – Anti Drug Yatra to make Haryana Drug free. Our Anti Drug Yatra has covered many villages and cities till now and made aware people of using drugs.

Bhoop  Singh Sehrawat, Head, Gayatri Public School said, “the free medical camps make sure people should get healthcare at the right time, and seeing the doctor early enough before a small health problem turns serious.

Around 500 subjects took a consultation from a team of Doctors that have come from Delhi. They provided free medical consultation to the people and also raised health awareness among the community and teach them to deal with common diseases.

School students are the soft targets for drug dealers.  The reason behind youth falling for drugs is mainly peer pressure and stress. Drug addiction is not a disease, it’s a habit. The one who is addicted wants to come out of this, but is not able to afford the rehab treatment or the medicines that are required for an initial couple of months.

That’s why, we’ve launched this anti-drug Yatra- Aagaaz, in which we are spreading awareness to different districts of Haryana and also providing rehabilitation services to drug addicts, he mentioned.

A team of Doctors from RML Safdarjung Hospital will be visiting the medical camp. Apart from the free medical checkups, free medicines will also be distributed to the needy. The medical camp will start at 9 AM and open to all age groups.

According to Kulbir Singh, President of Udit Kunj Foundation, our main motto to hold a free medical camp on June 26 (Sunday) is to be aware of the society on early diagnosis of some common health issues and to provide free medicines to poor people.

He further added, “Also, International day against Drug abuse i.e. June 26 is a special day for our organisation as we are fighting against drug addiction for many years and recently we have launched Aagaaz- Anti Drug Yatra in Haryana to make the state Drug free.
