The Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering (GATE) 2021 examination schedule revealed the paper -wise and shift wise date sheet. The GATE 2021 is scheduled to hold in February from 5 to 14, 2021. The examination will be held in two sessions, one from 9 am to 12 pm and another in the afternoon from 3 pm to 6 pm.

GATE 2021 has some new subjects also. Now students of Humanities and social science, environmental and engineering science can also give GATE 2021. GATE is a Fully Computer Based Test (CBT) including some Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), may include Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and/or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

Other highlights of GATE 2021 are that there is no age limit to appear for the exam, and the GATE-2021 scorecard will remain valid for three years from the date of announcement of results.

New Eligibility for GATE 2021 Exam

1. Eligibility criteria to appear for GATE-2021 is relaxed from the minimum 10+2+4 (ongoing) to minimum 10+2+3 (ongoing), enabling even those in the third year of their undergraduate studies to appear for the examination, thus providing an additional opportunity to candidates to improve their performance to secure better career options.

2. A major change is that now along with science students, humanities students can also appear for the GATE exam. Two new subject papers ES (Environmental Science and Engineering) and XH (Humanities and Social Sciences) are being started from this year making the total number of subject papers to 27.

While lauding the new initiatives of the GATE-2021 committee, Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director of IIT Bombay, said, “I am particularly delighted at the creation of much needed new career opportunities for those in the Humanities and Social Sciences area as this may serve as one single standardized criterion for admission to various masters and doctoral programs in various IITs and other universities in India. Should any agency, for example, various PSUs want to hire candidates with Humanities background, this new exam paper in GATE will prove to be a great enabler!”
