The post Retelecasted Ramayan became viewer’s first choice with 7.7 crore viewership first appeared on Jugaadin News .]]> Since the lockdown has imposed, Doordarshan retelecasted Ramayan is in trend. Due to which it has become the most-watched show with 7.7 crore viewers.

On Thursday, DD National on their official twitter handle posted that Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan on Doordarshan become the world’s most-watched show on April 16.

The DD National wrote, “Rebroadcast of #Ramayana on #Doordarshan smashes viewership records worldwide, the show becomes most-watched entertainment show in the world with 7.7 crore viewers on 16th of April.”

The show was re-aired on Doordarshan since March 28 after the announcement of the lockdown. The show made history in earlier years also when it was originally telecasted on DD National during the year 1987-88. Then also it was the most-watched TV serial in the world and recorded as “the most-watched mythological serial in the world” in the Limca Book of Records.

The post COVID 19: AIR, DD broadcast educational content/virtual classes amid Lockdown first appeared on Jugaadin News .]]> To help students during the lockdown in their studies, India’s Public Broadcaster in collaboration with All India Radio, DD National, and various state government institutions through their regional channels are broadcasting virtual classes and other educational content. These virtual classes are helping especially the students of class 10th and 12th standard in preparation for their board and competitive examinations.  

These virtual classes broadcasting through AIR and DD include syllabus for Primary, Middle and High School level students and model question papers for 10th standard. Storytelling and quiz shows are also included in virtual classes in a few states. On average, any DD Channel is airing 2.5 hours of educational content daily and any All India Radio channel is airing 30 minutes of educational content daily. A detailed list of all educational programs at different DD Kendra is given in the press note released by Press Information Bureau.

After a huge demand on social media, national broadcaster Doordarshan, popularly called DD National, is bringing back the epics shows of ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahabharata’ for its audience across the country. On Friday, there was a flood of memes on social media with its announcement. Both shows are to be telecasted on Doordarshan channels, so the meme stories about Doordarshan and streaming platforms are becoming viral in social media.

DD National and DD Bharati will telecast the epics shows of ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahabharata’ respectively from today, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said. Ramayana will be shown on DD National two times in a day 9 am and 9 pm and Mahabharata will be shown on DD Bharati at 12 pm or 7 pm respectively.

Speaking about the manner in which they are scheduled, “One episode of the Ramayana will show in the morning and another episode in the evening.” It will be the same for ‘Mahabharata’ too. Based on Lord Ram’s life, ‘Ramayana’ was first telecasted on Doordarshan in 1987 and had a massive following across the country. Arun Govil played the role of Lord Rama and Deepika Chikhaliya of Sita. It also included actors such as Dara Singh, who played the Hanuman role, Lalita Pawar as Manthara. The series ‘Mahabharata’ was first telecasted in 1988.
