Arthritis- a common word and common problem we usually heard from people. Arthritis is termed as inflammation of joints. The body shows certain symptoms if experiences arthritis-like pain, swelling, stiffness, and reduced range of motion. A person having arthritis can feel pain doing joint movements.

The typical treatment of arthritis involves painkilling and inflammation-reducing medications but some research shows that physical therapy, lifestyle changes, and changing food habits can make a big impact on how severely you experience arthritis symptoms.

There are some foods that are linked to increased inflammation and pain symptoms. Read on to know about the arthritis trigger foods you should avoid.

1. Limit the sodium intake: High amounts of sodium in your daily diet can increase inflammation in your body. A person suffering from rheumatoid arthritis should avoid a high intake of sodium.

Sodium intake

2. Omega 6 fatty acids: The food rich in omega 6 fatty acids like soybean, canola, safflower, and sunflower oils have less omega 3 fatty acids. The imbalance between these two omega acids can worsen the inflammation.

3. Sugar and Sugar-sweetened soda: an excess of sugar and soda drinks creates inflammation in the body, and has been found to increase arthritis symptoms in women according to research.

4. Excess of cheese: Most cheeses contain a high amount of saturated fat, and saturated fats have been shown to cause inflammation not only in heart disease but also in arthritis.

CHEESE

5. Fried Foods: Fried foods can be inflammatory and potentially exacerbate arthritis as they are made from oils rich in omega-6 fatty acids.

6. Lower the AGE: AGE stands for the advanced glycation end product is basically a toxin that appears when a portion of food is heated, grilled, and pasteurized. The human body fights against these AGEs using cytokines, which are inflammatory messengers.

7. White Flour: Refined wheat products, such as white bread, activate the body’s inflammatory response. That’s why eating a lot of processed cereals, and grain products could make your pain worsen.

White Flour

Limiting these foods can benefit by reducing the levels of inflammation in your body. For more information, speak to your doctor or orthopaedician about how your diet might be affecting your arthritis symptoms.
