According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India, the decision will benefit more than 48 lakh central government employees and 68 lakh pensioners.

3% Increase in Dearness Allowance and Relief

The Cabinet-approved increase in DA and DR is intended to provide financial relief to central government employees and pensioners amid rising prices. The revised rates will be effective from July 1, 2026.

Dearness Allowance is provided to serving central government employees, while Dearness Relief is given to pensioners. Both are intended to help offset the impact of inflation.

Over 1.16 Crore Employees and Pensioners to Benefit

The announcement by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting states that the decision will benefit:

• Central government employees: More than 48 lakh
• Pensioners: More than 68 lakh

Together, the increase is expected to benefit over 1.16 crore employees and pensioners.

When Will the DA/DR Hike Take Effect?

The 3% increase in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief will be effective from July 1, 2026. Eligible central government employees and pensioners can refer to the relevant official government orders for further details about implementation and payment.
