The film explores important social themes like race, gender, sexuality, and disability through four different stories:
- NANDINI (Directed by Onir): A queer Indian man, Indraneel, reunites with his estranged father in Melbourne to complete a ceremonial ritual. Their journey explores forgiveness, grief, and healing.
- JULES (Directed by Arif Ali, creatively guided by Imtiaz Ali): Sakshi, a newlywed, forms an unexpected friendship with Jules, a homeless woman, as they navigate personal struggles and discover deep human connections.
- EMMA (Directed by Rima Das): A talented deaf dancer struggles with self-doubt and discrimination. A chance encounter with another deaf dancer helps her embrace her uniqueness and find her inner strength.
- SETARA (Directed by Kabir Khan): Based on a true story, this film follows a 15-year-old Afghan girl who escapes the Taliban and rebuilds her life in Melbourne. She finds solace and belonging through cricket while dealing with past trauma and family conflicts.
Interestingly, the real-life Afghan girl on whom Setara is based plays herself in the movie, making it even more authentic.
