The UGC NET December 2026 examination will be held from 14th to 18th December and on 21st December. Candidates can submit their application form till 28th October,2026. Applications with a late fee will be accepted till 31st October,2026.

UGC NET December 2026: Revised examination rules :

According to the information bulletin, the admit card will be available from 7th December, 2026. Candidates should check the official portal for updates and download the relevant documents when released. 

What is UGC NET?

UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is a national-level examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the UGC. It determines candidates’ eligibility for Assistant Professor positions, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), and PhD admissions, depending on their qualifying category and applicable university rules.

The scorecard download link will remain active from October 15 to October 22, 2026. Candidates must log in using their registration number or roll number and password or date of birth to access their scorecards. IBPS will remove the download link after October 22, so candidates are advised to save their scorecards before the deadline.

IBPS SO Mains Exam on November 1

According to the shared update, the IBPS SO Mains Examination is scheduled for November 1, 2026. Candidates who qualify in the preliminary examination should check the official IBPS website for further details regarding the mains examination and related instructions.

Focus on Research and Livestock Development

The discussions covered scientific research, genomics, advanced reproductive technologies and skill development through the exchange of technical expertise and best practices. Both sides also explored opportunities to improve trade under the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), including issues related to market access and regulations for dairy, livestock, marine and other animal-origin products.

The meeting reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to closer cooperation and sustainable growth in animal husbandry and related sectors.

Under the initiative, rice will be supplied directly to Army Supply Depots, including those serving Ladakh and the Northeast. The move is also aimed at making the supply process more efficient, particularly for locations where transporting essential items can be challenging.

Bharat Rice to Meet Army Ration Requirements

The initiative has been developed by the Directorate General of Supplies and Transport based on feedback from troops. The rice will meet prescribed defence specifications and undergo quality checks to ensure it is free from foreign matter and other unwanted substances, with minimal broken, damaged or discoloured grains.

The rice will be procured in 10 kg and 30 kg bags to make handling and transportation easier, especially at forward posts. Supplies are planned through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) during the financial year 2026–27.

Army and FCI Sign MoU to Improve Logistics

Alongside the launch, the Indian Army signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Food Corporation of India (FCI). The agreement will allow the Army to use FCI’s warehouses, storage facilities, trained manpower and material-handling equipment during operational contingencies.

The arrangement follows lessons from Operation Sindoor, which highlighted the need for supply chains that can respond quickly when military operations require urgent or prolonged logistical support.

Under the agreement, coordination will take place between the Army’s Supply and Transport units and FCI’s regional and divisional offices. The MoU will remain in effect for five years, with the option of extension by mutual consent.

Focus on Stronger Supply Chains and Soldiers’ Welfare

Rajnath Singh highlighted the importance of dependable logistics in maintaining military readiness. He noted that modern defence preparedness depends not only on weapons and technology but also on storage capacity, transportation networks and the timely delivery of essential supplies.

He also described Bharat Rice as a link between farmers and soldiers, reflecting the contribution of agricultural work to the welfare of armed forces personnel. The initiative forms part of a wider effort to improve ration quality, support troops in difficult conditions and make better use of existing national infrastructure.

Pralhad Joshi welcomed the initiative, emphasising the importance of providing quality food to soldiers who serve the country. Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, FCI, NAFED and the cooperative sector were also present at the launch.

The Bharat Rice initiative, together with the new logistics arrangement, aims to support consistent ration supplies and strengthen the Army’s ability to meet operational requirements across different regions.

The Ministry, along with its media units and field offices, organised “4,710 activities across the country”, against a target of 2,943. This represents “160% of the target”, with “74,483 people” participating in the campaign activities.

Cleanliness Activities and Public Participation

The campaign focused on different aspects of cleanliness and public participation. Under the ‘Transformation of Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) & Clean Public Places’ initiative, difficult and heavily used public areas were identified, mapped and cleaned within a set timeframe. A total of 2,864 CTUs were transformed, and public places were cleaned.

The campaign also aimed to promote awareness of the ‘Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026’, encourage youth participation and strengthen collective responsibility for cleanliness.

Engaging Students and Youth in Swachhata

Under the ‘Swachh Paathshala: Yuva for Swachhata’ initiative, students and young people were encouraged to participate in cleanliness activities. These included ‘Swachhata Gyan Yatra’, visits to Solid Waste Management facilities and “Swachhata Evam Jal Sanchay Samvad”, which involved discussions on cleanliness, rainwater harvesting and water management. A total of “219 events” were organised under this initiative.

Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Railways, and Electronics & Information Technology “Ashwini Vaishnaw” interacted with senior officials of the three ministries on October 1 as part of the campaign. He emphasised that cleanliness should become a lasting habit in everyday life and work.

Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan also participated in “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” activities at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Delhi, and called for cleanliness to become a people’s movement.

During the campaign, the Ministry’s Secretary reviewed progress with media heads and nodal officers and directed them to improve participation and achieve the campaign targets.

In 2026, Jodhpur Air Force Station will host a major aerial display, with the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team among the key attractions as part of the Tarang Shakti 2026 activities.

History of Indian Air Force Day

The Indian Air Force was established on October 8, 1932, during the British colonial period. Its first operational squadron, No. 1 Squadron, was formed in 1933.

After Independence in 1947, the IAF played an important role in several military operations and conflicts, including the 1947–48 Jammu and Kashmir operations, the 1965 and 1971 wars, and the Kargil conflict. It has also contributed to subsequent counter-terrorism operations.

Over the years, the IAF has developed into a modern air force with capabilities in air defence, air superiority, strategic airlift, surveillance, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.

Suryakiran Aerobatic Team

The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) is the aerobatic demonstration team of the Indian Air Force. Known for precision flying and coordinated aerial formations, the team showcases the flying skills, discipline and coordination of IAF pilots.

In 2026, Suryakiran will be a major attraction of the aerial display at Jodhpur Air Force Station.

Fleet Support Ships to Strengthen Navy’s Reach

HSL is building five Fleet Support Ships under a single contract for the Indian Navy. Each ship has around 43,500-tonne displacement and 82% indigenous content. These vessels are designed to refuel and resupply naval ships at sea, helping them remain deployed for longer periods without frequently returning to port.

‘INS Surya’ is around 223.6 metres long and 31.5 metres wide, can reach about 20 knots and is designed for missions of nearly 60 days. It can carry fuel, fresh water, ammunition and other essential supplies, along with maintenance facilities, a helicopter deck and self-defence systems.

Upgraded Shipbuilding Facilities at HSL

The upgraded 235-metre Slipway-4 and the new 300-tonne Goliath Crane will allow HSL to build and launch ships of up to 45,000 DWT. The new infrastructure is expected to support larger and more complex shipbuilding projects.

The Fleet Support Ship programme will strengthen the Navy’s operational endurance, maritime reach and blue-water capability, particularly during extended operations in the Indian Ocean Region.

Historic Voyage from Dibrugarh to Dhaka

The cargo, produced by Assam Petro-Chemicals Ltd, is being carried by DLB Patkai to Dhaka. The voyage marks a significant milestone for Assam’s waterways and opens new possibilities for trade and transportation between the Northeast and Bangladesh.

A New Chapter for Assam’s Waterways

The movement highlights the potential of the Brahmaputra as an international trade and transportation route. With more waterways being developed in the Northeast, the initiative is expected to strengthen connectivity and create new opportunities for growth and prosperity in the region.

Five Centres to Be Set Up Across Five States

The Centres will be established at:

– Classical Assamese — Tezpur University, Assam

– Classical Bengali — Visva-Bharati University, West Bengal

– Classical Marathi — Deccan College Post-Graduate and Research Institute, Pune, Maharashtra

– Classical Pali — Central University of Odisha, Koraput, Odisha

– Classical Prakrit — Central University of Gujarat, Gujarat

The Centres will function within universities, making use of their existing academic resources, faculty, research programmes and libraries. They will focus on strengthening research and scholarship, preserving and digitally archiving linguistic and literary material, and making knowledge related to these languages more accessible. 

Classical Languages and Their Importance

India now has 11 recognised Classical Languages. Six—Tamil, Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Odia—were recognised between 2004 and 2014, while Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese and Bengali received the status in October 2024.

For Classical Language status, the criteria include 1,500–2,000 years of recorded history or early texts, a significant body of ancient literature, knowledge texts and inscriptional evidence, along with a distinct or discontinuous relationship with later forms of the language. 

The five new Centres are expected to strengthen academic work and help preserve India’s rich linguistic heritage through research, documentation and wider dissemination.

28 Ladakh Features Added to the Official Map

The identified features cover a range of geographical categories, including peaks, mountains, passes, glaciers, valleys, rivers, lakes, water bodies and land areas.

Among the named peaks are Atisha Giri, Kanishka Peak, Martand Giri, Zorawar Peak, Rinchen Zangpo, Sakyasri Giri, Marpa Lotsava Ri, Milarepa Kangri, Shiva Ri and Maheshvara Ri.

The list also includes Karun Pir, Drak Karpo and Jolmori as mountains; Chapchingal Pass and Shachmirk Pass as passes; Parpik and Skamri Glacier as glaciers; and Shkorga Valley as a valley.

Gogra, Hot Spring and Other Features Included

Several other geographical features have also been formally recorded. Gogra has been classified as a land area, while Hot Spring has been identified as a water body. The list also includes Guru Rinpoche as a lake and Yangpa River as a river.

Other identified land areas include Brangsa, Kuksel, Dehra Compass, Kumarayana Point, Panglung and Shamal Lungpa.

Standard Names to Improve Recognition and Awareness

According to the Government, formally identifying these places on the Survey of India map will facilitate their accurate recognition and consistent use of their names in official and public references. The exercise was carried out in consultation with the Ladakh administration.

The development comes after the government undertook a similar exercise in Arunachal Pradesh in August 2026, when 27 places and geographical features were identified using standard names on Survey of India maps.
