As the name, Ravitoto indicates something confusing and unique, but it’s purplish cassava (manioc) leaf. This whole dark-green spinach-like dish is cooked with coconut milk and some spices. Commonly, however, it is stewed together with meat, or pork, which gives you a very tasty, balanced contrast between the slightly bitter cassava greens and the richness of the meat.

The complex, built between 1893 and 1903, is one of the few historic Mongolian attractions that the Soviets or the Communist powers did not kill. The Gate of Peace and Happiness, the Cooling Pavilion, and six temples, each with Buddhist artwork, scripture, and thangkas, such as the Naidan Temple and Makhranz Temple, are part of the palace complex.

There are many of Bogd Khan’s belongings on display, such as his bed, his throne, his array of stuffed animals and art, his luxurious ceremonial ger, his traditional boot pair, issued by Russian Tsar Nicholas II to the Khan, and even jeweled regalia worn by the pet elephant of the Bogd Khan. Currently, it is operated under the Mongolian Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Sports.

Places to visit in Mongolia- Orkhon valley

The scenic beauty of the Orkhon Valley spreads along the banks of the Orkhon River in Central Mongolia, around 320 km west of Ulaanbaatar. It was inscribed by UNESCO in the World Heritage List as representing the evolution of nomadic pastoral traditions spanning more than two ages.

Top Place to visit in Mongolia

Today, the Orkhon Valley is a large nomadic site where many breeders typically set up camps. The landscapes of the scenic steppes, surrounded by the rich fauna and flora of the lush Khangai Massif, make this region the perfect place to explore nomadic Mongolia in an enchanting leafy atmosphere. Riding horses is also very fun and the valley is the point of leaving for many hikes or treks in the mountains around it.

Places to visit in Mongolia- Yoliin am canyon

In 1965, a small area of 69 square kilometers around Yoliin Am Canyon was already a protected area before the establishment of the Gurvan Saikhan National Park. Yoliin Am lies about 60 kilometers southwest of Dalanzadgad, in the Züün Saikhan Mountains. Yol Canyon, located at an altitude of 2500 meters, forms a gorge so deep and so narrow that only two people can pass through it in some areas. Four small waterfalls are created by the water. While the sun shines a lot in this area, the canyon remains dark, so that a portion of the river at the bottom remains hidden by a thick layer of ice for almost the entire year. Permanent glaciers, endemic trees, and exotic animals such as Siberian ibex, argali, or bearded vultures can be discovered here. In the Yol Valley forest, snow leopards and other predators live as well.

Top Place to visit in Mongolia

Best Time to visit Mongolia & when not to

Winter is from November in Mongolia, right through December, January, and February. It is also very cold—the lowest reported temperature was -57 °C! However, that is not commonplace; the average winter temperature sits at -40 ° C, which is positively balmy. Off-peak travel in Mongolia, however, offers its own benefits.

In the Gobi Desert, June, July, and August are very hot, not a pleasant combination to travel at this time.

In March, April and May, nomadic herders are on the move, which is an extraordinary sight to see as men from A to B lead their families — and their yaks.

September and October can be very rainy, but if you don’t mind the rain, as it’s bursting with color, the landscape is your reward; the photographs you can get between rain patches will be some of the absolute best in Mongolia.

Each of these awaits you even more in the amazing country of Mongolia. If you are up for a nomadic realistic experience, take a look at a perfectly made holiday and take a trip to Mongolia to see unique people with a beautiful culture.
The post Top Places to visit in Mongolia first appeared on Jugaadin News .

Food and drink deliver lifelong memories that define the experience of a holiday or travel. The most significant aspect of traveling is seeking out the local cuisine. It is through food that we learn about the people and culture of any country. So, if you plan to visit the beautiful country Mongolia, the food of magnolia is the must-know thing for you.

The food of Mongolia is largely derived from ethnic Mongolian traditions. It is a combination of their nomadic diet and northern Chinese and Russian influences. The Mongolian traditional diet consists of food that comes from the five domestic animals: cow, goat, sheep, horse, and camel since Mongolian culture is based on cattle farming. Mongolians never slaughter young animals. Mutton, particularly the back section, is considered to be the best meat for Mongolian dishes. For special occasions, a whole sheep is traditionally prepared by Mongolians.

Let’s know about top 10 dishes of Mongolia

Byaslag

The animal’s neck is bounded by a piece of wire. When all of the skin surfaces start leaking fat, Boodog is cooked. This nomadic dish can be found throughout Mongolia, although a more refined take on Boodog is also served by many Ulan Bator restaurants.

Borts

Borts is one of the famous dishes of Mongolia that consists of dried meat from cows, goats, and camels. This dish was invented as a means of preserving meat for the long winter season. First, the meat is cut into long, thick strips and then hung on a rope to dry until a slightly brownish color form. It is broken into smaller pieces when it’s ready and can be kept for months, or even years.

Dishes of Mongolia

Kumis

Kumis is a fermented dairy product that originated in ancient Mongolia, but it has spread through Central Asia over time. The drink is similar to kefir, but it is usually made from raw milk of the mare, which contains more sugar than the milk of the goat or cow, and is also high in protein and vitamin. Because of the high amount of sugar in the milk of the mare, when it is fermented, kumis has higher alcohol content than kefir. Kumis becomes an araka or arkhi if distilled into the spirit. Kumis has a slightly acidic taste and an aftertaste of almonds is also there in this light-bodied milk drink.

Dishes of Mongolia

It is usually served chilled in small cups, known as piyala, in Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia. Kumis is normally drunk, like medication because of its health benefits.

Buuz

Buuz is a traditional steamed dumpling dish of Mongolia that is filled with meat such as beef or mutton. Usually, salt, onions, garlic, and fresh herbs are also seasoned with the beef. The dumplings are prepared in large quantities and consumed throughout the year, but during Tsagaan Sar, the Mongolian New Year celebration that usually takes place in February, Buuz is the most popular dish of Mongolia.

Dishes of Mongolia

This dish of Mongolia is mostly eaten by hand. The dumplings are usually served as the side dish with fried bread, dipping sauces, and salads, although mixing them with drinks such as vodka or tea is recommended.
The post Food of Mongolia: Top 10 Dishes of Mongolia first appeared on Jugaadin News .
