World Social Justice Day 2020: Reduce the Inequality

World day of social justice is an international day to promote social justice. It addresses issues such as poverty, unemployment, human rights, gender equality, and social protection. This day was approved by the National General Assembly on 26th November 2007, and every year since 2009 social justice day is observed on 20th February to raise awareness about social injustices. Many organizations, including the UN, American Library Association (ALA) and International Labor organizations make statements on the importance of social justice for people.

World Social Justice 2020 Theme

The theme for world social justice day 2020 is “Closing the Inequalities Gap to Achieve Social Justice”. It explains social justice is an underlying principle for peaceful and prosperous coincide within and among nations. We confirm the principles of social justice when we promote gender equality or the rights of indigenous peoples and migrants.

We advance social justice when we remove hurdles that people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability.

How did this day come about?

In 1995 the world Summit for social development was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Summit was the largest ever of world leaders at that time. More than 100 political leaders in the summit vow to fight poverty, promote full employment and to provide safe and stable societies. They also concur on the need to put people in the center of development plans.

Later, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 20 February as World Day of Social Justice in 2007. It invited state members to contribute to promoting national activities following the goals and objectives World Summit for Social Development and the 24th session of the General Assembly.

How it is Celebrated

 The objective of Social Justice is to raise voice against social injustice that is to promote social justice and to bring the various communities internationally together to eliminate poverty and gender physical discrimination illiteracy and religious inequality to make a socially integrated society. Educational Institutes may prepare for themes related to poverty, social and economic exclusion or unemployment. Different media, including television and radio stations, Internet sites and newspaper sand may give attention to the issues around the World Day of Social Justice.
