The World’s Tallest Statue: Statue of Unity Unveiled by PM
On the occasion of 143rd birth anniversary of IRON MAN of INDIA, PM Narendera Modi unveiled the statue of Unity on Wednesday. The statue of unity is built as a tribute to Sardar Patel for his iconic contribution in the India’s freedom movements. The inaugural event was held on the banks of narmada river in Gujarat. Built at a cost of Rs. 2,989, the statue is now world’s tallest statue with the height of 182 metres. The statue took 33 months for the construction and Larsen and Toubro built it. It is designed by sculptor Ram V sutar (Padma Vibhushan Awardee).The statue has been described as a tribute to Indian engineering skills. It will be open for visitors from Nov.3. The statue has a viewing gallery which can accommodate 200 visitors at a time. This gallery offers a view of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, its reservoir, and the Satpura and Vindhya mountain ranges.
