Politician Amar Singh dies in Singapore hospital at an age of 64, PM Modi mourns

Rajya Sabha MP and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh died on Saturday. He was 64 years old. He was running ill and has been taking treatment for kidney problems in Singapore hospital. His kidney was also transplanted a few days ago. He died on Saturday afternoon.
Amar Singh was currently serving as MP Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, Amar Singh has been the former general secretary of the Samajwadi Party as well as a Rajya Sabha MP. He was close to Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. However, he resigned from all posts of the party in the year 2010.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the demise of Amar Singh, tweeting that Amar Singh Ji was an energetic public figure. In the last few decades, he witnessed some of the major political developments from close quarters. He was known for his friendships across many spheres of life. Saddened by his demise.
