Navratri 2018 : Maa Brahmacharini worshipped on Day 2
1 year ago
The second day of Navratri honors Maa Brahmacharini. Brahm means Tapa (Penance) and Charini means one who performs. She is known for her love, wisdom and majesty. Wearing white sari with orange border, she holds a rosary in her right hand and a Kamandal in her left hand. She is called Brahmchaarini because she performed tough penance to obtain Lord Shiva as her divine consort.
She ate very little for many years but her penance was so pure that lord shiva noticed her dedication and determination and made her wife. Due to her deep penance she is also called as Tapasyachaarini. Worshipping this form of maa durga gives spirit of penance, mental balance, emotional stability, confidence and nobility, determination to withstand the tough times in life. Devotee serves a bhog of sugar and fruits to Goddess Brahmacharini.
