Air masks have been there for a long time but with the increase in the population level, a huge increase in pollution has also occurred and all credit goes to the rapid industrialization and urbanization. But the most recent use of masks has occurred due to the current outbreak of the coronavirus. When the outbreak started, people were made aware that face masks are mandatory along with other precautionary measures. And with the COVID 19 outbreak, air mask has become an essential item as people have to wear them all the time to protect them from virus.

 Now, most of these masks are just to protect you from inhaling the polluted air and mainly protect you from the virus which can be spread from sneezing or coughing. But there has always been a cry whether these masks are for purifying the air?

LG understands the problem and recently announced that they would be making battery-powered air purified masks to make sure that the air gets purified before inhalation. This is one of the best initiatives and if the product goes the way it has been planned, it would be a huge step forward and would also wearing masks a tad easier.

LG Battery-powered Air mask

LG recently announced that they would be the first to provide the world with air purifier masks that will purify the air before inhaling and masks would be driven by batteries. The technology is the need of the hour to combat the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as masks are a necessity nowadays. This has been specifically built so that the airborne particles will not enter the masks and the air purifier will help to purify the air which you inhale or exhale out.

STRUCTURE OF THE  BATTERY POWERED AIR MASK

The mask is addressed as LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier and will have two ear slots to wear like normal masks. In addition to that, there are two HEPA filters that will help you to purify the air that you exhale or inhale. The masks will filter out almost 99% of the airborne particle up to the size of 0.1micron. It has a battery that is of around 820mha to power the fans present in the filter. The fans can work up to 8 hours when used in light mode but if the requirement is heavy it will workaround for 2 hours before recharging it. The mask will come only in white color and will have UV led lights to disinfect the mask and also will kill most of the coronavirus as it has been found out that Corona is quite weak to the UV radiations and dies immediately. But the brand has made it specifically clear that it does not promote the fact that it will save from the virus or whether during the filtration there will be no spread of the disease.

USE OF THE LG AIR MASK

The mask is used like any normal masks but it will give a lot more protection than the other masks. The air purifiers will act to regulate and supply fresh air without opening the mask while the UV lights will disinfect the masks from time to time. People who have breathing problems while wearing other masks may find this a bit easier to cope with.

PROBLEMS THAT MAY ARISE WITH LG AIR MASK

Although full details of the mask are not yet available to us, there are some issues that may be addressed. The first one being the use of UV lights as it can harm the human body too. The second one is notably the use of purifiers as it is still not clear how it will work and what can be the other problems. Although the mask has been tested initially still there are reports that are required before the proper launch.

LAUNCH AND ACCESIBILITY

There is no specific date on when the mask will be available as there are some tests still going on. But the company is trying to launch it as soon as possible with the prototype already ready. The accessibility still remains unclear on who will have the first access but it is being rumored that everyone who has the capability to buy it may have access and there would be no strict rule.
