IPL 2020 FINAL: MUMBAI INDIANS BEAT DELHI CAPITALS BY 5 WICKETS AND LIFT UP THE IPL TROPHY FOR THE 5TH TIME

Mumbai Indians win the IPL title for the 5th time. Rohit’s team defeated Delhi Capital by 5 wickets. The loss added an unsolicited record for Delhi. Delhi became the first team to emerge with less than 160 runs in the final. The Mumbai Indians became the most time winning team in the IPL.

Mumbai won the match with 8 balls to spare

Earlier, at the Dubai ground, Delhi Capitals who won the toss gave up a target of 157 with the batting first. In reply, Mumbai lost 157 wickets in 18.4 overs and won the match by 157 runs. For the team, Rohit Sharma scored 68 off 51 balls and Ishan Kishan 33 off 19 balls. This is the second time the captains of both teams have scored a fifty in the final. Earlier in the 2016 final, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, David Warner scored 69 and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli scored 54 runs.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma and Quinton De-Kock gave a fast start. They shared a 45-run opening partnership. But de-Kock scored 20 runs and got out in the hands of wicketkeeper at the ball of Stoinis. After this, at the 90 runs team lost the second wicket. Surya Kumar Yadav (19) was got run out. After this, Rohit shared 47 runs for the third wicket with Ishaan.

The fifties scored in IPL final

Captain Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 65 and Rishabh Pant scored 56 runs. It was Iyer’s 16th and Pant’s 12th Fifty in the IPL. Both shared a 96-run partnership for the fourth wicket with 69 balls. 
Delhi’s start was very bad. The team lost 3 wickets for 22 runs. Trent Bolt gave Delhi 2 early setbacks and also took the most 3 wickets for Mumbai. He opened the account without Marcus Stoinis and got Ajinkya Rahane caught for 2 by wicketkeeper de-Kock. Stoinis was out on the first ball of Trent Boult. This is the first time in IPL history that a player was dismissed on the first ball of the match.
