IPL 2020: DELHI CAPITALS EDGE OUT KINGS XI PUNJAB IN A THRILLER

Delhi Capitals 157 for 8 (Stoinis 53, Iyer 39, Pant 31, Shami 3-15, Cottrell 2-24) beat Kings XI Punjab 157 for 8 (Agarwal 89, Rahul 21 Ashwin 2-2, Rabada 2-28, Stoinis 2-29) via the Super Over

The 2nd game of IPL poised to another thriller with Delhi Capitals edging out Kings XI Punjab in the super over. The match was evenly poised as both teams had control of the match at some points but the match went right down to the wire with Delhi prevailing

Winning the toss KXIP chose to field. The pitch had a tinge of green and had significant bounce with the opening pair of Mohammed Shami and Sheldon Cottrell as Delhi lost their first 3 wickets inside the powerplay. Captain Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant started the rebuilding process but with the score of 100 after 17th over it looked done and dusted. But Marcus Stoinis punished the bowlers scoring 44 runs off the last two to take to a respectable score of 157/8

In reply, KXIP had a good start but lost 4 wickets for just 5 runs and were 55/5 at one stage. The match looked in Delhiā€™s pocket but Mayank Agrawal played a sublime knock of 89 to take the team on the grasp of victory but the last 3 balls produced. W W as both the teams had an identical score of 157/8 which led to the super over

Super over was just a mere formality as Kagiso Rabada destroyed Punjab restricting them to just 2 runs as Delhi won the Super over comfortably and the game.

KL Rahul the KXIP captain was a bit disappointed with the way the match panned out but he praised Mayank Agarwal for his efforts.

Shreyas Iyer, the Delhi Captain had a few nervous moments as he misjudged a catch which almost cost his team the match but was of full praise of Kagiso Rabada and Marcus Stoinis for their performance

The main aspect of the main was an umpiring blunder which cost the game for Punjab when the umpire gave a legit run as a short run.

Marcus Stoinis was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
