International day of mine awareness: Together for mine Action

On 4 April, the United Nation observes International day for mine awareness and assistance in mine action. This day is widely known to raise awareness about the dangers caused by landmines and progress toward their elimination. The word “Mine action” refers to finding and clearing landmines and explosive remnants of war and assisting victims and teaches people how to remain safe in a mine-affected environment. On December 8, 2005, the UN general assembly officially declared 4 April as an international day of awareness and assisted in mine action and on 4 April 2006, the first International Day of Mine was observed.
