Ganesh Chaturthi 2019: Birth Celebration of Lord Ganesha

According to the Hindu calendar, Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated every year on Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla paksha of Bhadrapada. Elephant headed Lord Ganesha was born on this date. The ten-day Ganeshotsav will begin on September 2 in the year 2019. On Ananta Chaturdasi (the last day), the statues are taken through the streets, accompanied by singing and dancing, and then immersed in the ocean or other bodies of water.

The festival celebrates Lord Ganesha as the God of New Beginnings and the Remover of Obstacles as well as the god of wisdom and intelligence and is observed throughout India, especially in the states such as Maharashtra. Prayers are offered to Lord Ganesha every day during the festival.  After a long time, two auspicious planetary transitions are occurring due to which the importance of Ganesh Chaturthi has increased. The coincidence of Chitra Nakshatra and Chaturthi Tithi will start from 8 am on September 2 and remain for the whole day.
