Every year 3rd Sunday of June is celebrated as Father’s Day, and this year it is on June 21. Father’s day is a day to acknowledge fathers and their die-hard contribution in making a secure future for children. It’s a day to recognize and honor their selfless efforts and contributions towards the family.

This year, however, because of the coronavirus pandemic, there are restrictions to go to public places in different parts of the world. But, you can celebrate this year’s father’s day with your father by watching some movies about fatherhood and strengthen the bond that you shared with him.

Piku was nominated for the best film in the 61st Filmfare awards. It is a story based on a father-daughter relationship where Deepika Padukone played the role of the daughter of a clingy old man played by Amitabh Bacchan. Piku loves her father and, as her mother is no more, takes good care of him but gets extremely irritated with him at times because of his eccentricities. In the end, her father died one night and left piku alone.

Wake up Sid is the story of a wealthy businessman whose son is different from him and he can’t get agreed to this. He feels that his son is good for nothing. But later on, when he came to know about the photography interest of his son and talked to him, father embraced him. The talk between father and son can give you tears.

3. Apne

Apne is a story of a father and his two sons. Dharmendra being a former boxer wrongly accused of doping charges. He wants to take revenge and hence trained his elder son to win the championship. But he was not able to win due to a lack of facilities. However, the son wins back his father’s confidence and wins the Championship again. It’s a movie on family values.

Udaan is a movie that shows the dark side of a father-son relationship. Every father is not good with their children, some are abusive too. Udaan is a story of a boy Rohan and his father who is an alcoholic and abusive in nature. To know what has happened to Rohan when he started living with his father, you must watch it. The movie was selected for the Cannes film festival 2010.

5. Paa

Paa is a comedy-drama where real-life father Amitabh Bachchan played the role of a son of his real-life son Abhishek Bachchan. The movie is about Auro (Amitabh Bachchan) who has a rare disease called progeria in which mentally he is twelve and very normal, but physically he looks five times older. He doesn’t know that Abhishek Bachchan is his father, his mother (Vidya Balan) concealed this from him. At last, when he came to know about the truth, he reunited his father and mother. What happens to Auro in the end, do watch Paa.
