The All-New BMW F 900 R and All-New BMW F 900 XR bikes are launched in India by BMW Motorrad India. Bike lovers have long been waiting for these motorcycles in the Indian market. Both of these motorcycles will be available as fully manufactured units (CBUs) at the BMW Motorrad dealer network. That is, both the motorcycles will be imported. Bookings for both the models have started at BMW Motorrad dealerships from today. The company will start the test ride and delivery of these new bikes after the lockdown is over as per government guidelines.

The new BMW F 900 R will be offered in one variant while BMW F 900 XR will be offered in Standard and Pro variants. The ex-showroom price of the BMW F 900 R is Rs 9.9 lakh. The ex-showroom price of the BMW F 900 XR Standard is Rs 10.5 lakh and the ex-showroom price of the BMW F 900 XR Pro is Rs 11.5 lakh. In the Indian market, these bikes will compete with motorcycles like KTM 790 Duke, Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster 821, and Triumph Street Triple R.

The BMW F 900 R is a muscular roadster motorcycle and has a clean engine. Along with this, it has been given thicker rear tires and aggressive stance to give a strong road presence. The company makes it look more muscular with contrast side panels, extruded fuel tank, and gold forks. The BMW F 900 XR, on the other hand, is a full adventure sports tour motorcycle and can go off-road with it. It has the same chassis that is found in the F 900 R, but it has different panels and comes for long rides with different riding dynamics, which means that the seats are longer and taller. The F 900 XR is long and has a wide windscreen.

Both the motorcycles have an 895 cc parallel-twin engine, which comes with 86 mm more bore. It has the same stroke as 77 mm and is derived from the 853cc motor which is available in the F 750 GS and F 850 GS. This engine generates 105 bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and torque of 92 Nm at 8,500 rpm. The new engine comes with two balancer shafts to keep the vibration checked and also to carry more weight. The F 900 R only takes 3.7 seconds to catch a speed of 0 to 100 kmph whereas the XR takes 3.6 seconds to catch the same speed. Both the motorcycles have automatic stability control standard with rain and road modes. ABS and stability control are switchable which also can be completely eliminated. Like other standard features, it has also full LED lighting. Like other BMW middleweight bikes, this bike also has optional ‘Pro’ modes withdraw torque control, dynamic traction control, ABS Pro, and dynamic brake control. As a second option features, the bike has BMW Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA).

Earlier this month, BMW has also launched BMW M8 and BMW 8 series Gran coupe in India.
