The Asia University ranking of Times Higher Education has been released amid the worldwide lockdown. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, secured the top position in the country in the rankings released this year. At the same time, the institute has secured 36th position in the global ranking. Apart from this, eight IITs of the country have also found a place in the top 100 list in this ranking. Talking about the number of institutes in the ranking, this is India’s best performance since 2016. In the year 2016 also there were eight institutes of India in the top 100.

IIT Kharagpur and Delhi have improved their performance after 2019. It’s the time of glory for India as IIT Ropar has made its place in this list for the first time. Overall the scores of other IITs are quite low. This time IISc’s performance has declined as compared to the year 2019. But despite this, it has retained its position as the top institute of the country for the 5th consecutive year.

IISC SLIPS DOWN SEVEN PLACES

Talking about the rankings, this time IISc has gone down seven places whereas IIT Ropar has secured a place in the top 50. If compared to last year, this year IIT Kharagpur has jumped 17 places and IIT Delhi has jumped 24 places. China not only achieved the top global rank in the Times Higher Education rankings but topped the table with 81 universities. Apart from this, the most represented country is Japan, from which 110 institutions have made a place in this list.
