What is Authentic Behavior?
Everyone wants to be authentic, though the people who preach its goodness often don’t understand exactly what the word means. According to a study being true to self at the workplace may require higher levels of support and trust from co-workers. Authentic behavior means not faking your emotions at the workplace, living the moment with confidence and staying true to yourself. An authentic person puts the people around them comfortable like an old friend who welcomes us in and makes us feel at home.
There’s not any doubt or questioning for the integrity of an authentic individual.

Authentic behavior is of two types: ‘Surface acting’ and Deep acting’.

Surface acting is to fake that you are displaying people. Inside, you may be tense or defeated, but on the outside, you’re trying your best to be enjoyable or positive.
Deep acting is trying to hide how one is feeling inside. When you are deep acting, you’re actually trying to align what you’re feeling with how you interact with people.

How to master authentic behavior at your workplace

1. True to self
The best advice is “Be Yourself”. It’s probably the best advice you will ever receive. Be true to yourself means being an honest and reliable who lives by a code of morals and principles. Be true to yourself is fundamental to living a life of honor. Authentic behavior is empowering words with actions that benefit high-character individuals.
2. Don’t lose that credibility and trust of employees
It’s very important if you try to be yourself, true and transparent. You may lose the respect and reputation of your colleagues who feel offended to trust you. It’s vital you do not flaunt upon your weaknesses before colleagues. Maintain a thin line of the distance between them. It’s vital to allow them to see you as an upcoming leader and a manager at work.
3. Be in the moment and a great listener
There’s nothing more real than an individual who lives within the moment without worry or concern for needless matters. Living within the moment means concentrating on exactly what’s happening in your life at that precise time. It demands that we remove the luggage and clutter from our lives to measure our greatest within the moment.
Being an excellent listener isn’t just fitted to conversations with our loved ones or business partners. It’s also about taking note of the vital voice inside our heads. Listen to your intuition. Do what your heart is telling you to try to. That’s what an authentic person does.
4. Be a Learner
Authentic behavior means the day you stop learning is the day our spirit starts dying. In your commitment be always the best you can be, you know that you can’t possibly know all of the answers – or even all the questions.
5. Motivate others to higher performance
Authentic Leaders inspire others to require more, dream bigger and exceed their self-limitations. Authentic leaders let their followers know that they’re behind them if they stumble, which it’s safe to require risks.
6. Value trust and forgiveness
A fundamental element of authentic behavior is compassion and forgiveness. We have all been wronged by others, and that we have all wronged others. Imperfection is a standard human condition. When we forgive folks that violate our trust, we give them the gift of self-forgiveness and redemption. It takes far more energy to be angry than to be forgiving, and far more energy to carry a grudge than to supply a second chance.
