1). The lion and the mouse

Once there was a lion. One day he was sleeping under a tree. A mouse lived nearby. It came out of its hole. It began to play over the lion’s body. The lion woke up. He became very angry. He wanted to kill the mouse. The mouse begged the mercy. The lion took pity on it. He let the mouse go. 

One day a hunter came to that forest. He cast his net. The lion was caught in it. He began to roar. The mouse heard his roaring. He came out of the hole. He cut the ropes of the net. The lion was free now. He thanked the mouse.

2). The Hare and the tortoise

Once a hare and a tortoise were friends. The Hare felt  proud of his speed and always used to show off about it. He often made fun of the slow speed of the tortoise. The tortoise could not bear the insult. He asked the hare run to run a race .

A goal was fixed. The race began. The hare ran very fast. He was soon out of sight. After sometime the hare thought for a rest. He fell asleep. The tortoise moved slowly. He passed by sleeping hare. He reached the goal .  The hare woke up in the evening. He ran very fast. But the tortoise had won the race.

3). Two friends and a bear

Ram and Shyam were two friends. They lived in the same village. Ram was a true friend. Shyam was selfish.

One day they passed through the jungle. They saw a bear. Shyam climbed a tree. Ran did not know how to climb a tree. He was in danger. But he did not lose heart. He lay down on the ground. He held his breath. The bear came and smelt him. He thought that he was dead.  So the bear went away. Shyam came down and asked, ” What did the bear say in your ear?” Ram replied,- The bear advised me to be alert of selfish friends.

4). God mercury and the woodcutter

Once there lived a poor woodcutter in a forest. He used to earn his livelihood by selling woods in the town. One day he was cutting a tree on the bank of a river. By chance, his axe fell into the river.

God mercury came there. He asked the woodcutter why he was sad. The woodcutter told him a story. The god dived into the river. He brought out an axe of silver. The woodcutter said, ” It is not my axe.” The god divided again. Now he brought out an iron axe. The woodcutter became happy. The god was very happy with his honesty. He gave him all three axes.

5). The farmer and his sons

Once there was a farmer. He had four sons. They always quarreled with each other. One day, the farmer bought a bundle of sticks. He asked each of his sons to break the bundle. Bone could break it. Then the farmer untied the bundle. He asked them to break the sticks one by one. They easily broke them. The farmer now advised his sons. ” If you are united none will harm you.” The sons learnt the lesson. They began to live in unity.
