1. Nand Kishore Yadav

Nand Kishore Yadav is an Indian politician born on 26 August 1953, who is currently serving as cabinet minister for roadways in Bihar Government. He is a member of the two parties Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). His great grandfather Jhalo Sardar was a famous landlord of his time and used to pet lions, but his father had to restart everything from the scratch, he shifted to old Patna and Nand Kishore lived his childhood there. He did a Bachelor of Science and in 1971 he became active in student politics due to which he left his studies in middle. He was the leader of the student’s political group and from there he gained popularity.

2. Meira Kumar

Meira Kumar is an Indian politician born on 31 March 1945. She is also a former diplomat and a member of the Indian National Congress. She belongs to Arrah district of Bihar, and she has done her Master’s degree and Bachelors of Law from Indraprastha College and Miranda House, Delhi University. From 2004 to 2009, she served as a Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment. In 2009 for a brief period, she acts as   Minister of Water Resources. She was the 15th speaker of Lok sabha from 2009 to 2014. Meira Kumar is the second woman nominated by the major political block as president of India. 

3. Nitish Kumar

Nitish Kumar, 22nd Chief Minister of Bihar was born on 1st March 1951. He is serving as Chief Minister of Bihar from 3 consecutive elections. He previously worked as a minister in the Union Ministry of India. Nitish Kumar is one of the successful CM who worked for the welfare of people. After being elected as CM of Bihar, he deliberately worked for giving a new vision to the people of Bihar. He works under the party of Janta Dal-United (JDU). Formally he was under BJP when he won his first election in Bihar. Now JDU is working as allies with BJP which seems to be a good and professional government. The results of his governance are quite impressive as the illiteracy rate of girls decreased more than half and also many welfare programs for the society have also been launched.

4. Jitan Ram Manjhi

Jitan Ram Manjhi is one of the politicians from eastern Bihar. He served as 23rd Chief Minister of Bihar only for a short period when Nitish Kumar resigned for CM’s post. Jitan Ram Manjhi worked as a cabinet minister of Janta Dal-United (JDU). He worked for the welfare of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe. He worked under many National Political Parties like Indian National Congress, Janta Dal-United, Rashtriya Janta Dal. Once in 2015 he was expelled from JDU and became a major face among Dalits.

5. Sushil Kumar Modi

Sushil Kumar Modi is currently the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar since 27th July 2017 and is from Bharatiya Janta Party. He was also Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister from the year 2005 to 2013 in Bihar and also is a lifelong member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. This 68 years old politician is married to Jessie George, a Christian Keralite from Mumbai, and has two sons named Utkarsh Tathagat and Akshay Amritanshu. He completed his education from Patna Science College.

6. Ram Vilas Paswan

Ram Vilas Paswan is an Indian politician from Bihar born on 5th July 1946 in the Khagaria district. He is the president of the Lok Janshakti Party and is currently at the post of Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. He completed his education from Patna University. He has been a member of Lok sabha for 8 times and currently is Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament representing Hajipur constituency. He was born in a Dalit family and had a very interesting and long journey of politics. He has also established Dalit Sena for Dalit emancipation and welfare. He represents and takes stand for low caste people as they do not get enough appreciation as he also belongs to minor caste and is connected to roots with his people and understand their problems.

7. Pushpam Priya Chaudhary

Pushpam Priya Choudhary is a new, young and ideal emerging candidate for the Chief Minister post of Bihar. She has completed her MPA from the London School of Economics and Political Science, MA Dev. Studies, IDS, University of Sussex. She is the president of a new political party called “Plurals” and aims to make Bihar a better place. She wishes to change Bihar into a progressive and developed state. She is the daughter of former JDU leader Vinod Kumar Choudhary who was also a journalist for almost two decades. She’s also a civil servant in the UK.

8. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh

Born on 6th June 1946, This politician is the national vice president of Rashtriya Janta Dal(RJD) political party and was the 16th Lok Sabha member of India representing the Vaishali constituency for consecutively five terms and has been in the union cabinet for three terms in UPA-I of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and is credited for the concept and implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act(NREGA). He’s one of the senior politicians in our country as the people represented in the legislature for almost four decades since the year 1977. He is also a professor and PhD. in mathematics and an experienced expert in the rural and agricultural landscape in India.

9. Lalu Yadav

Lalu Prasad Yadav is one of the popular and famous politicians in Bihar who is the president of Rashtriya Janta Dal(RJD). He was born on 11th June 1948 and was former Chief Minister of Bihar, a former member of Parliament of 15th Lok Sabha and former UPA minister of railways. His spouse Rabri Devi and children Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, and more are also politicians. There’s a biography named Gopalganj to Raisina Road on him. He became the youngest member of Lok Sabha in the year 1977 at the age of 29 only as a Janta Party candidate. His party also came to power in 2015 in the Bihar Legislative Assembly election with a partnership which JDU’s Minister Nitish Kumar but Nitish Kumar broke the ally with Lalu Yadav and dumped Lalu Prasad’s party RJD in July 2017. He formerly represented Saran constituency.

10. Krishna Kumar Mishra

Krishna Kumar Mishra was born on 9th August 1946 in Bettiah, Bihar. He was a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Krishna Kumar was elected from Chanpatia Vidhan Sabha twice in the years 1990 and 2000. From the year 1991-1995, he also served as a Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms. He is also famous by his name Lallu Mishra.
