10 benefits of rice water: an essential skincare product

Rice is widely consumed across the globe and is a staple food in many countries.  Agricultural production of rice is third-highest in the world, after sugarcane and maize. We use rice in our staple food, but what about rice water-(the water left over after you cook rice). Rice water is loaded with minerals, amino acids, and Vitamin B and VitaminE.  Regular use of rice water softens skin, promotes cell growth, minimize the size of pores and balance the PH level of the skin. Rice water helps in soothing skin irritation caused by sodium laurel sulfate (SLS), an ingredient found in many personal care products. If you use rice water twice a day it helps in skin nourishment that has been dried and damaged by SLS.

It acts as a natural sunscreen and protects your skin from harmful UV rays and also treats sunburns.

3 ways to prepare rice water

Rice water can be prepared in several ways. It is important to rinse rice before working with it.

Boiling rice water

Rinse the rice thoroughly at least four times and drain. Boil rice and water together and stir it continuously. Stir the rice and water together and boil it. Remove it from the heat. Take a spoon and press the rice to release the helpful chemicals, strain out the water, and refrigerate the water you can use up to for a week.

Soaking Rice Water

You can also make rice water by soaking rice in water. But you don’t need to boil rice and water, just soak rice for 30 minutes and strain it through the sieve. Finally, refrigerate the rice water.

Fermented Rice Water

To make fermented rice water, soak rice in water and strain the water store it in a jar and leave it in a jar at room temperature for one or two days. When the water in the container starts to have a sour smell, put it in the refrigerator.

There are no side effects of using rice water like every skin treatment rice water takes some time to show an effect on your skin.
